– Hello, Facebook, how are ya? You might be wondering why I’ve got two headphones coming in with two audios. I was actually trying to do an Instagram Live and a Facebook Live at the same time, but it all got too bloody hard. And, anyway, I’m wanting to create these tiny little videos because I think they’re a really good way for me to debrief, but also hopefully inspire you to go and check out the podcast episodes I’m doing, if you’re not listening already, because I just think there’s so much wisdom in there, and it’s inspiring me, and I want it to inspire you guys. And my latest guest episode was with James Colquhoun who is the founder of Food Matters.
He went on to make the movie Food Matters, Hungry For Change, and his more recent documentary, TRANSCENDENCE, as well, and they’re all awesome stuff, but, you know, he’s a massive action taker, so I wanted to share three things with you to contemplate what I got from it.
Now, the first one was, that you’ve got to meet your dreams halfway. Ultimately, we can spend a lot of time planning, preparation, overthinking, we can journal, we can be inspired, we can do every self-help development book or workshop under the sun, but ultimately, you can meditate all day, or whatever it is, you still have to take action and start to meet your dreams halfway. And then, I believe, as you do that, the universe starts to present things in better ways than you can ever imagine. So, that’s the first thing, meet your dreams halfway.
Second thing that I took out from it was, life is truly a gift. Like, it really is, and James really hammers this home for himself, and the people he’s around and everything else. You know, think about it, it’s a miracle, right? And, you know, one thing he highlighted and really sat with me after doing the interview, was that, a million, I’m not sure the exact stat, people die every day, and that’s someone’s family member being lost, and families look at that, and we kind of have this attitude where we just continue on, as if we’re going to live forever. And we, you know, the next one year, two years, five years slip by.
So, that was a big take home for me. And, one more I want to share with you, as well, was about how, sometimes we often, we have suffering, we have pain, but it’s being able to turn that into a blessing, long-term. And, you know, I always ask these questions on the show, anyway, but, in his case he actually made a movie from the pain of his father’s illness. And, one thing he likes to continue to look at, this is something I think about often as well, is what’s called a refractal period. And that means, when there’s an incident that effects us, and then from that incident, it’ll take us sometimes hours, days, or weeks, or even years to come back to where we fully let it go. And it’s almost like a spiritual path you go on.
What I find interesting is how do we close that gap? And that was a take home that came up, and we went into a great conversation around that, as well. How do we close that gap, to where we get to a point where we keep coming back to the present moment, and aren’t allowing those things to effect us so much? Anyway, that was the three biggest take homes. There’s a bunch of links below.
