– Hey guys, Guy here. Oh wow, can you tell I’ve just come out of yoga? It’s Tuesday morning. Anyway, I wanted to do a quick video about my latest podcast with Doctor Alberto Villoldo.
So, I’ve actually been getting quite a bit of feedback from it and when I put a new podcast out and if people start emailing me straight away I knew it, I know its hit the mark well. And, I love this conversation and I wanted to share with you three big take homes from me, from the podcast in under two minutes, hopefully. And then, inspire you to go listen to this thing and stretch your imagination and mind a little bit because after being in the health industry for you know, nearly fifteen years or whatever, it was just brilliant to hear this message. So I’m doing it live to really push it across to them.
Now the first big take home was Doctor Alberto has got a background in neuroscience, but from his background in neuroscience he went on and became a shaman and went to the Amazon jungle to study shamanism for much time to see how they were healing people there. It’s a fascinating dynamic and I’ve never met someone so heavily from the science background but still heavily back from the shamanism background as well.
Now, for me, the biggest take home with that is humility, and I think it takes a huge amount of humility to bring a beginners mind to everything that we do because we have our own belief systems that govern the way we make choices subconsciously through each day and, for me, I always try to remind myself to bring back to the beginners mind and in the humility and explore all avenues with an open mind and not automatically closing things down. So that was big take home number one for me.
The second big take home was he spoke about in his new book Grow a New Body about hardware versus software and I just loved this analogy and this one I’m gonna take. Hey Mark, how you doing buddy? And the hardware being the body itself, you know the physical aspect of it, and the software being our awareness, our consciousness, you could say our spiritual side of things, and he’s ultimately looking at both.
He said if you wanna run good software, and have good awareness and consciousness and a good mindset and everything we bring to the world then our hardware needs to be able to run that software really well and you need to look at both aspects.
We tend to, in western society, only look at the hardware, and sometimes we can go on the opposite spectrum and only look at the software without addressing the hardware, i.e. the body, and I just love that and I think that’s a huge take home.
And the third one was as well about shamanism and working with a shaman, and again for me, I worked with a shaman about six years ago now and it was definitely a game changing moment in my life. It was hugely profound, and for that again I ended up spending almost a year preparing myself.
And what he speaks about is, you know, if you look at psychadelics and ayahuasca and these powerful plant-based medicines come into western society, there is definitely a pill approach, I think, a western mentality that comes into play, that if I take this it’s gonna heal, fix me, and sort all my problems out without actually looking at the underlying causes, and he’s very big on preparing the body, addressing things that are going on already before going on to working with a shaman and then that’s addressing the hardware and the software at the same time.
It’s quite amazing, check it out, it’s down the rabbit hole. Hit me up if you’ve got any questions in the comments below and, yeah. Let me know what you think. Awesome, have a great day. I’m gonna try to keep this video short.
