Discover one of the many reasons why cold exposure in a controlled environment can help you with daily stress.
Do you cold shower or ice bath?

Guy Lawrence here and here’s why cold exposure is good for daily stress.
There’s a term called eustress and what that means is a good stress. So think about it like when you go to the gym, you might do some weights, you’re stressing the muscles, and then you get a good response from that stress. Most people now run on the hormones of stress. It’s a known fact with today’s society. So when problems come our way, we can either see them as a threat and the body will automatically respond or we can see them as a challenge. If we start to see them as a challenge, we start to change our mindset towards it and we start to recondition the body and we start to perceive the situations very differently and we start to make conscious choices.
When you submerge yourself in an ice bath or have a cold shower, you can either see that as a threat or a challenge, and then you can start to then train the body in that moment because I promise you, when you get in there, there’s no hiding. You either get on with it or you have to get out. So you start to become present and be aware, and you start to look at it as a challenge instead of a threat. The moment you start to do that, the body will calm down. It will settle itself down and then you can relax into it, just like the daily stresses that we’ve get dealt with.
If you’re new to cold exposure, just start with cold showers. Start with 30 seconds but stay in there long enough until you can get past the body reacting like mine is right now, and then work your way up. If you want to go the whole hog, get into a nice bath and work your way up to two minutes and start to enjoy the challenges that this brings because I promise you, this will transfer out into your day.
